We welcome students, postdocs, and collaborators interested in fault-tolerant quantum computing, quantum error correction, and quantum architecture.

Prospective Graduate Students

Prospective PhD students interested in the group are encouraged to apply to the MIT EECS PhD program. Applicants who are also considering related faculty may additionally apply to the MIT Physics PhD program and MIT Math PhD program.

  • In the MIT EECS application, please list Photonics and Quantum Technologies (PQ) as your primary application area.

  • To flag interest in this group, mention Hengyun (Harry) Zhou and relevant projects in your statement of purpose.

  • Due to application volume, we are not able to review materials by email or schedule 1:1 meetings before admissions decisions, but all applications are reviewed carefully during committee review.

Prospective Postdoctoral Researchers

The main avenue for postdoctoral recruitment is the MIT Center for Theoretical Physics (CTP) Quantum Information Science/Quantum Computing postdoctoral search, which is coordinated by us and other colleagues across campus in quantum information science. Other postdoctoral programs that may be of interest include the QMIT Postdoctoral Fellowship, the Pappalardo Fellowship, and the Postdoctoral Fellowship for Engineering Excellence.

  • This search is typically posted in October each year.

  • If you are interested, feel free to email Harry ahead of time and include your CV, research statement, and any other relevant materials.

Prospective Undergraduate Students

As a new group starting up, there are currently limited opportunities for undergraduate researchers.

If you are interested, feel free to email Harry and include:

  • Relevant prior experience (research, projects, or technical work)

  • Why you are interested in joining the group

  • Your transcript, including relevant coursework

Collaborators

  • We are open to academic and industry collaborations on quantum error correction, as well as quantum algorithms and architectures.
